The Life Changing Power of Words

As a child, you probably remember a phrase that said, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." That little phrase was a lie! Words can often do more damage! Words can effect your life to the core of who you are. Words that you heard as a child can effect your entire life. They can direct and control your life.

As a life coach and especially as a counselor, I see on a regular basis the damage that words can do to a person. The child that was told they can't do anything right, wanders as an adult afraid to try in life because they believe that they will fail. They believe they are a failure.

A person that was told they weren't wanted by their parents grows up to have many failed relationships because they believe no one really loves them. They believe they are unloveable.

Words we tell ourselves are just as damaging. "You're ugly" - You always mess things up" - "You're stupid" - You're not good enough" - You're nobody" - and the list goes on and on.

We live our life accepting and agreeing with those words and allowing them to tell us and others who we are and what we can't do in life.

A very wise person once said pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.

Words really do mold and shape and change and tear down and build up and produce life and produce death.

"Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose." - Solomon

You have a choice in life. You have a free will. You choose what you believe and what you choose to say to yourself and to others.

What words did you hear as a child or a teen that bring so much pain or guilt to your mind? What words have you agreed with and choose to say to yourself and to others?

Choose the "honey" words! Choose those words that are full of life and truth about yourself. Your days will be filled with much more joy and peace!

Part of what I do is to help people get disconnected from past words that are keeping them from living life to the fullest. Let me help you today!
